Steel Run
The Steel Run (approximately 11km) is the craziest race in Luxembourg. Not only will you be able to measure yourself against other runners, but you'll also have the chance to discover Differdange and its unusual places.
Starting signal will be on 15 September at 3 p.m. at Parc des Sports in Oberkorn.
Registration
You can register for the Steel Run online or on site.

Anyone aged 14 and over can take part in the Steel Run. The only condition is that there are no medical restrictions on participation in an endurance race.
In addition, 14-18 year-olds must present a legally signed parental consent form authorizing them to take part in the Steelrun. This document must be handed in when picking up your number at the Starterkit stand.

Registration, registration deadlines & cancellation
Participants can only register on the official registration page. The registration deadline is 11:59 pm on 13/09/2024. As the number of participants is limited, the organization reserves the right to close registrations early. Payment is online only and can be made by a wide range of methods (i.e. not only by credit card, there are other means of payment). Please follow the chiplauf.de instructions to the letter.
Registration cannot be cancelled, even for illness or other reasons. If the maximum number of participants has not yet been reached, it will be possible to register and pay on site on race day. To check that registration has been completed correctly, the list of participants can be consulted online at chiplauf.de at any time (after registration, lists can take up to 24 hours to update). For questions concerning registration and payment, please contact chiplauf.de by e-mail.
Transfer of race number
Unofficial transfer of the race number to another person is not permitted. Identity checks will be carried out on race day. Any breach of the rules will result in immediate exclusion from the race.
Categories
There are 3 categories: Women, Men and Team. In each category, age plays no role (except that participants must be 14 or over). Participants are timed individually. Team timing is based on the sum of the 3 best results, which means that a team must comprise at least 3 runners. One runner can only register for a maximum of one team.
Limited number of participants
The number of participants is limited. As soon as the limit is reached, the registration field will be closed. The organization reserves the right to increase the maximum number of participants.
The day of the Steel Run
Access & Parking: Here are all the car parks in proximity of the Steel Run.
Start, finish and race village: Parc des Sports (rue Camille Gira, L-4624 Oberkorn)
Changing rooms and showers: Shared changing rooms and showers will be provided for all participants (men and women separated). The organisers accept no responsibility for theft.
Catering: available in front of Hall O from 11.30 a.m.
Lockers: available inside Hall O
Medical care: Ambulances, medical tents and first-aiders will provide appropriate medical care at key points during the race. The entire course, start and finish will be monitored by first-aiders and medical assistance. All doctors and first-aiders have the right to remove a competitor from the race in the event of injury or exhaustion.
Information desk: If you have any questions, staff from the organisers and chiplauf.de will be on hand at the information desk on race day. The race site will be well signposted.
To collect a team-mate's race number, a copy of a valid identity document and the person's registration confirmation must be presented at the desk. We strongly recommend that you come early enough to collect your race number, so that you don't have to wait as long in the queues.
Unofficial transfer of the race number to another person is not permitted. Identity checks will be carried out on race day. Any infringement of the rules will result in immediate exclusion from the race.
Course: The length of the route will be communicated in due course. The course is expected to be approximately 11 km long. Depending on weather conditions and other external factors, the length of the route may be altered without notice! There is always a risk of falling or slipping, especially on the stairs. Please adapt your pace and behaviour to the situation.
Race management has the right to change the course at any time during the race. We ask all runners to behave fairly and with consideration. Help each other at obstacles, because only fair-minded runners are true Steel Runners.
Race start: The race kicks off at 3 pm. The start will be in a single line or in waves. The fastest and most ambitious runners are best positioned in the first third, those of average strength in the second third and those who simply want to finish the race at the back of the starting pack. We're counting on everyone's sportsmanship.
Refreshments: There will be water and fruit refreshment points along the course and at the finish.
Race timing: Net time is used. This means that only when you cross the start line will your own stopwatch be activated (net time). However, the first 10 competitors will be ranked according to their order of finish. The chips will be integrated into the bib numbers. It is also important to pass over all the time-measuring mats, as missing intermediate times may lead to disqualification.
Maximum race duration: Technically, there is no time limit for finishing the race, as all runners who cross the finish line are Finishers. However, around 2-3 hours after the start of the race, the course will be progressively closed and dismantling work will begin in the direction of the race. Runners still on the course at this point will have to leave the race.
Awards ceremony: Apart from diplomas for the top finishers in the Men's, Women's and Team categories, there's only one sentence: "The most important thing is to take part". The awards ceremony will take place at the finish/start area approximately one hour after the first competitors cross the finish line. Awards will not be sent out at a later date.
Giveaways: After the finish line, don't forget to pick up a bottle of Lodyss water and a bottle of Funck-Bricher beer from a sponsor in front of Hall O.
Disqualification: The course must be completed in its entirety. The organizers reserve the right to exclude participants from the race in the event of unfair or unsportsmanlike behaviour along the course. Bib numbers will be radioed to race management at the various checkpoints. The race may still continue, but all disqualified runners will be entered as "FAILED" or similar in the results list. Control posts will check that everything is going according to the rules. It is imperative to follow the instructions given by race management, doctors and the control post supervisors. In the event of unavoidable waiting times, the race organizers expect exemplary fair play from participants. Outside help is not permitted!
Fight against doping: The current COSL statute on doping also applies to the Steel Run. Anti-doping tests may be carried out. By taking part in the Steel Run, athletes agree to abide by COSL's anti-doping rules and recognize the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne as the penal authority.
